When my son, Jordan (who happens to have Down syndrome), was about 11 or 12, it was time for a dental appointment. At the dentist's office, they put one of those kiddie cartoon name tags on him (which was not age-appropriate for a pre-teenager). Jordan responded with a loud, "What the hell, Mom?" Laughter erupted from the dental staff and people in the waiting room, and all I could say was that Jordan was a little old for the kiddie name tag, and too young for that language. We all learned something that day!
