Hi Kathie: It would be great if all teachers and parents would take the opportunity to read the information you share. I wish I had these articles when my children were younger. I spent many years trying to have the school system teach my children, and understand that they simply learn differently.

I felt my mom and I were the only ones who understood my children and cared about them having a normal life.  And we never gave up: my last child graduated from high school on Friday, June 16, 2011. After going to eight different schools, he cannot write or spell very well, and his reading level is less than a high school-level. From now on, teachers will no longer have to deal with his learning style or my fighting for what he needed.

My hope is that some day all children will have the education they need and deserve. Children with disabilities—like all children—are our next leaders and they deserve better.
